Georg Engelmann (composer)
Georg Engelmann (* around 1575 in Mansfeld ; † November 11, 1632 (buried) in Leipzig ) was a German organist and composer of the early Baroque era .
life and work
In 1539 Engelmann enrolled at the University of Leipzig . Around 1596 he became organist at the Paulinerkirche there . Engelmann was university music director at the University of Leipzig and from 1625 Thomas organist in Leipzig.
Engelmann published three books with his own five-stanza paduan and galliard for strings (Leipzig 1616–1622) and the compilation Quodlibeticum novum latinum (Leipzig 1620). In addition, he wrote some occasional works.
