Georg Erlacher

Georg Erlacher (born January 30, 1959 in Klagenfurt ) is an Austrian manager.

Career

Erlacher grew up in a farming family in Carinthia and attended the Kuchl wood technology center , where he also passed his Matura . He then studied forestry at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna and worked there as an assistant at the Institute for Forest Technology after completing his doctorate in 1990. Erlacher switched to the woodworking industry in 1991 and was, among other things, director of the Schweighofer Group , where he had already worked as a shift supervisor during his studies ; from 1999 he was Central Europe Manager and Production Manager at Stora Enso Timber. As a part-time job, he was a lecturer at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences until 1995.

In 2001 he was appointed to the board of directors of Österreichische Bundesforste AG (ÖBf AG) as the successor to Richard Ramsauer . In addition to his role as spokesman for the board, he was also responsible for the forestry and nature conservation divisions. Erlacher's term of office at ÖBf AG ended on March 31, 2015.

Parallel to his board function at Österreichische Bundesforste AG, Erlacher was on the board of the Schweighofer private foundation. In April 2015 Erlacher returned to the operational management of the Schweighofer Group and took over the agendas of forestry, energy, personnel, communication and investments in the company, which had been confronted with severe criticism in connection with the illegal logging of Romanian primeval forests since 2015.
