Georg Friedrich Holtzhauer

Georg Friedrich Holtzhauer (also: Holzhauer ; * 1746 in Daber ; † August 12, 1801 in Königsberg (Prussia) ) was a German lawyer.

Life

The son of the mayor Johann Georg Holtzhauer received his first education at the school in his hometown and later continued his education at the grammar school in Stettin . He studied at the University of Halle from 1765 , then worked as a private tutor to some nobles and received his doctorate in law in 1773. He then held lectures at the law faculty, gave Christoph Ludwig Crell's dissertations from 1775 to 1784 under the title Dissertationum atque programmatum Crellianorum. Fascicul. I-XII. (Halle) and after the death of Johann Ludwig L'Estocq in 1779 took over the fourth full legal professorship at the University of Königsberg . There he rose to become chancellor of the university in 1796. In addition, he had also participated in the organizational tasks of the Königsberg University, was Rector of the Alma Mater in the summer semesters 1785, 1787, 1789, 1793, 1797 and 1801, and Vice-Rector in the winter semesters 1785/86 and 1787/88. In his last term of office he died.
