Johann Ludwig L'Estocq
Johann Ludwig L'Estocq (born March 13, 1712 in Aftinten (Prussia), † February 1, 1779 in Königsberg (Prussia) ) was a German lawyer.
Life
Johann Ludwig was the son of the Hanoverian captain Jean Paul de L'Estocq (* Celle 11/21 May. 1686, † Breslau 9 November 1726) and his wife Johanna (* 1 May 1675 in Königsberg; † May 1726 in Heiligenbeil), daughter of the Königsberg professor Georg Wosegin (used ball). General Anton Wilhelm von L'Estocq was a cousin.
Johann Ludwig had studied at the Albertus University and the Friedrichs University in Halle . From 1736 he worked as a lawyer and notary for the city council in Königsberg. In 1740 he became court judge and court judge. In 1743 he was appointed royal Prussian war council and French judge. He received his doctorate in law in 1744 and in 1747 received the post of full fifth professor in the law faculty at the Königsberg University.
Estocq was an honorary member of the Royal German Society . By marrying Maria Eleonora Hintzin , widow of the book printer Johann Friedrich Reussner († December 22, 1742), in 1745 , he came into the possession of the Reussnerische Buchdruckerei, which he kept until 1750. In 1750 he rose to the fourth professorship, in 1751 he was third professor and at the same time chief judge of the city of Königsberg. In 1764 he took over the second full professorship in law and in 1771 became first professor and in 1778 chancellor of the Königsberg University. In addition to his professorship, he also participated in the organizational tasks of the Königsberg University. In the summer semesters of 1765, 1769, 1771 and 1775 he was rector of the Alma Mater and in the winter semester of 1775/76 he was vice-rector of the same.
