Georg Friedrich Vischer

Georg Friedrich Vischer (born April 22, 1738 in Stuttgart ; † March 26, 1789 ibid) was a Württemberg teacher and senior librarian at the Ducal Public Library in Stuttgart.

Life

Vischer was the son of an expedition council. He attended high school in Stuttgart and from 1756 studied philosophy and theology in Tübingen . In 1759 he completed his studies with a dissertation and passed the theological examination. On November 17, 1764, Vischer was appointed "garde Bibliothèque" of the ducal public library by Duke Karl Eugen of Württemberg , which was opened on February 11, 1765.

In addition to his position in the library, Vischer was also a teacher at the Académie des Arts in Stuttgart. In 1770 he became inspector of the ducal coin and medal cabinet and in 1777 professor of documents, coins and heraldry at the High Charles School .

In 1786, Vischer was appointed senior librarian, i.e. head of the library, with the character and rank of court counselor. Vischer died on March 26, 1789.
