Georg von Giesche
Georg von Giesche (born October 20, 1653 in Schmortsch , Breslau district , † April 26, 1716 in Breslau) was a German merchant and manufacturer.
Life
Giesche founded a zinc trading company, which rose as the mining company Georg von Giesche's heirs to become one of the largest German industrial companies. He is considered a pioneer of Silesian zinc and calamine mining . In April 1712 he was by Emperor Charles VI. raised to the hereditary knighthood.
Giesche died in 1716 and was buried in the Elisabeth Church in Breslau.
Georg von Giesche School
In Berlin-Schöneberg , the Georg-von-Giesche-Schule Oberschule Technischen Zweiges (Middle School) (OTZ), today's integrated secondary and European school , was founded on April 1, 1953 . In 1970 the Georg-von-Giesche-Oberschule moved from Elßholzstraße to the Hohenstaufenstraße / corner Münchener Straße building of the former Werner-Siemens-Realgymnasium .
