Alfons Perlick

Alfons Perlick (born June 13, 1895 in Ossen , Groß Wartenberg district ; † September 24, 1978 in Wegscheid -Thurnreuth) was a German educator as well as a local historian and folklorist with a focus on Upper Silesia .

Life

Alfons Perlick was born in 1895 in the Lower Silesian village of Ossen, municipality of Medzibor , as the son of a bank director. He completed his training as a teacher at the teachers' seminar in Proskau . After serving as a soldier from 1914 to 1917, he initially worked as a teacher. Then Perlick studied folklore at the University of Hamburg and from 1921 to 1924 pedagogy in Berlin. He became a lecturer at the Pedagogical Academy / College for Teacher Training in Bytom in Oberschlesien, curator at the Upper Silesian State Museum and director of the Upper Silesian State Office for Folklore in Beuthen, since 1935 with the title of professor as head of the seminar for local history and folklore. From 1946 to 1960 he was professor of local and world studies at the Pedagogical Academy in Dortmund and retired in 1960.

In 1952 Perlick became the head of the East German Research Center in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and from 1952 to 1973 he was the head of the East German research center in the state of Westphalia.
