The RIEDEL Communications GmbH & Co. KG (formerly Riedel radio and intercom technology ) is one of Thomas Riedel (born 1968) in 1987 established company in Wuppertal . It is defined in three business areas: production of communication technology, rental service and radio sales. The company is the world market leader in its segment. With over 700 employees, RIEDEL Communications (in addition to its headquarters in Wuppertal) is represented at 20 other locations in Europe, Australia, Asia and North America. The company's ISO-9001 certified manufacturing division develops, manufactures and sells intercom, fiber optic, wireless and audio network systems. These are used in the areas of broadcasting, events, theater and industry. As a rental service, the company rents out complete radio and intercom solutions, IT infrastructure, accreditation systems as well as radio and fiber optic-based audio and video transmission systems. In the radio sales division, RIEDEL is one of the largest authorized Motorola sales partners (since 1991) in Europe with over 40,000 radio devices.

The company was the main service provider in the field of communication technology for numerous major international events. Examples are: The Eurovision Song Contest 2006 , the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 , the Soccer World Cup 2002 , Soccer World Cup 2006 , Summer Olympics 2004 , Winter Olympics 1994 , Winter Olympics 2002 , Winter Olympics 2006 , Winter Olympics 2014 , Red Bull Air Race World Championship as well as the Formula 1 World Championship . At the 2012 Summer Olympics , for example, RIEDEL was represented with a total of 18,000 radios.

The company was awarded the Wuppertal Business Prize in 2003 and has received a total of three Emmy Awards to date. The company received two awards for the production of the flight series "Red Bull Air Race". The award was given for the entire communication infrastructure of the event, the signal distribution and the wireless onboard HD cameras. The company received its third Emmy for the production of Red Bull Stratos .

  • 1991 Riedel becomes Motorola sales partner and brings its first own product onto the market: RiFace - an interface between radio and intercom systems.
  • In 1993 the company equips Formula 1 with communications technology for the first time.
  • In 1994 Riedel received his first order for the Olympic Games in Lillehammer.
  • In 1998 Riedel supplied radio technology for ARD and ZDF for all stadiums of the 1998 FIFA World Cup in France. The company has participated in all FIFA World Cups since 1998.
  • In 2000 the company took part in the EXPO 2000 in Hanover in the areas of event accreditation, frequency planning and monitoring, fiber optic systems for audio / video transmission and the official radio network for operation and security (approx. 3000 radios). In the same year, the company launched Artist, the world's first decentralized digital matrix intercom system.

  • 2016: Riedel takes over ASL Intercom BV and expands its Intercom product portfolio. Riedel also takes over DELEC Audio- und Videotechnik GmbH, a developer and manufacturer of high-quality intercom and communication solutions. In Rio de Janeiro, Riedel is equipping the Olympic Games with over 14,000 radios, 20,000 in-ear headsets and numerous MediorNet mainframes. In total, over 400 pallets of material are sent to Brazil.
  • 2017: Riedel presents the new next generation wireless intercom system - Bolero - at Prolight + Sound and NAB. The wireless intercom system enables up to 10 microphone units / beltpacks per antenna and the simultaneous use of up to 100 antennas. In addition, Riedel celebrated its 30th anniversary with various events spread over the year. The highlight was the big anniversary celebration on December 1st, 2017 with guests from all over the world.
