Georg Hartmann (politician, 1875)
Georg Hartmann (born January 6, 1875 in Dresden ; † December 21, 1955 there ) was a German politician (DNVP).
Life
In his childhood, Hartmann attended elementary school . He learned the trade of mechanical engineer and worked in this profession in various factories until 1904. He then became a full-time trade unionist: In Saxony he helped found the Christian trade unions there . From 1907 to 1914 Hartmann served as secretary of the Christian unions in Hamburg , from 1914 to 1918, as trade union secretary of the Christian miners' union in Saxony .
From 1916 to 1918 Hartmann took part in the First World War. After the war, he served as district manager of the Central Association of Agricultural Workers in Saxony until 1927 . He then became a secretary at the German Railway Workers' Union .
Around 1919 Hartmann joined the German National People's Party (DNVP), in whose Reich Committee he was co-opted. After he had already belonged to the city council of Dresden from January to October 1924, Hartmann sat from May 1924 to September 1930 as a member of the Reichstag for constituency 28 (Dresden-Bautzen) . In 1930 Hartmann took part in the action committee in preparation for the establishment of a state association of the Conservative People's Party in Saxony .
After 1930 Hartmann lived withdrawn in Dresden, where he died in 1955. He was the holder of the Saxon Cross of Honor and the Friedrich August Medal .
