Georg Heinrich Ballheimer

Georg Heinrich Ballheimer (born February 16, 1796 in Hamburg ; † November 3, 1874 there ) was a Hamburg butcher and member of parliament.

Life

Ballheimer took over his father's business and expanded it into an export slaughterhouse. Especially during the Crimean War he was able to generate significant profits as a supplier for the English army . Ballheimer was injured by an ox while he was working. As a result, one of his legs had to be amputated. Therefore Ballheimer was also known in Hamburg as Ballheimer with one leg . From 1821 to 1828 Ballheimer acted as captain of the 7th company of the 6th battalion of the civil military , from 1829 to 1836 he was the second major of the 6th battalion.

Ballheimer was a member of the Hamburg Constituent Assembly . From 1859 to 1868 he was a member of the Hamburg citizenship ; he was elected in the general election of the 21st district.
