Georg Hess (politician, 1956)

Georg Hess (born March 15, 1956 ; † July 12, 2016 ; entitled to live in Wetzikon ) was a Swiss politician ( CVP ).

biography

Georg Hess grew up in the Zürcher Weinland , completed the Matura Type C in Winterthur and studied agronomy at the ETH Zurich . In 1992 he received his doctorate there .

He specialized in viticulture and completed internships in Australia and Switzerland. From 1985 to 1989 he was the central office manager for viticulture in the canton of St. Gallen . From 1989 to 2000 he worked as a lecturer for viticulture, viticulture and soil science at the University of Wädenswil . Since then he has lived in Schindellegi .

From 1996 to 2000 he was a member of the Schwyz Cantonal Council , from July 1, 2000 to September 30, 2010, a member of the government council . Initially he headed the building department and from 2002 the finance department. On July 1, 2006, he was elected regional governor for two years, and from July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2010, he was the governor in turn . On September 30, 2010, Hess resigned for professional reasons. He then took over the management of the Political Business at Bank Julius Baer .

In his spare time, Georg Hess was a member of a yodel choir and played the Schwyzerörgeli from the age of twelve . Until his cancer in 2015, Hess was President of the Association of Music Schools of the Canton of Schwyz, of which he was one of the founders. The association appointed him honorary president in April 2016. Hess was married and had two children. He died in July 2016 at the age of 60 after a serious illness.
