Georg Hoprich

Georg Hoprich (born December 29, 1938 in Daia , Transylvania , † April 9, 1969 in Cisnădie ) was a Romanian-German poet .

Life

Georg Hoprich was born as the son of a farmer in Thalheim (Daia) near Hermannstadt ( Sibiu ). He attended grammar school in Sibiu and from 1956 studied German in Bucharest . He was imprisoned in 1961 after a show trial for a single "anti-state" poem ("We are a pale people"). After his release in 1964, he continued to be spied on by the Securitate . Although he was able to complete his studies in 1967, he was forbidden from teaching. Hoprich lived in a state of constant uncertainty and committed suicide in 1969.

In 1983 a work edition of his poetry was published in Bucharest. In 1987, issue 147 of the literary magazine “ die horen ”, which was dedicated to Romanian-German writers, printed eight poems by Hoprich: “Die Poeten” (created in 1967), “Remembrance (I)” (1965), “I stay sometimes” (1960), "In July" (1967), "A Song Over" (1965), "The Acacia" (1967), "The Path of Victim" (1968) and "Miraclia" (1969).
