Georg Horn (historiographer)

Georg Horn (born December 22, 1542 in Hammelburg , † September 24, 1603 in Hammelburg ) was a Protestant pastor and historian .

Life

Georg Horn was born as the son of Hans Horn, a citizen of Hammelburg, and his wife Margarethe, b. Stockert, born. From the age of five he attended the Hammelburg Council School, and later the Hammelburg Latin School . From 1558 to 1560 he attended the Latin school in Naumburg, where he was tutor and educator of the children of the former Hammelburg preacher Friedrich Bachofen. In 1561 Georg Horn enrolled at the University of Jena after receiving a scholarship from the city of Hammelburg . On June 4, 1567 Horn was appointed by the city council as a predicant . He married Anna Wolfarth from Münnerstadt on January 20, 1568 . As a result of the recatholic efforts , Prince Abbot Balthasar von Dernbach released him from his office on September 8, 1603.
