Georg Jochmann

Georg Jochmann (born October 11, 1874 in Liegnitz ; † January 6, 1915 in Berlin ) was a German internist and bacteriologist .

Life

After studying and doing his doctorate at the University of Freiburg , he received his further medical training at the Hygiene Institute in Kiel, in the internal department of the General Hospital in Hamburg-Eppendorf and at the Medical University Clinic in Breslau , where he also completed his habilitation . In 1906 he came to the newly built Rudolf Virchow Municipal Hospital in Berlin as head of the infection department . In 1908 he became a private lecturer at Berlin University . In 1910 he received the title of professor. After the outbreak of war he was appointed hygienic advisor to III Army Corps used was infected in the treatment of Russian prisoners of war with typhus and died in it. In his time, Jochmann was considered one of the best experts on infectious diseases in Germany. His grave is in the south-west cemetery Stahnsdorf .
