Georg Johansson

Georg Johansson ( April 23, 1910 - January 12, 1996 ) was a Swedish football player . The midfielder appeared twice for the Swedish national team in the 1930s and took part in the 1934 World Cup.

Career

Johansson played for IK Brage in the 1930s and 1940s . Although he started with the team only second-rate , he was appointed to the national team for the first time in 1931 after the runner-up behind the promoted Hallstahammars SK in Division 2 Norra . On July 26th of the year he made his debut in the 6-0 win over the Latvian national team in Västerås in the national jersey.

In 1934 Johansson reached the promotion round to Allsvenskan as the season winner with IK Brage . Although a 3: 3 draw and a 2: 3 defeat against IK Sleipner missed the leap into the first class, Johansson was called three years after his only international appearance for the Swedish squad for the World Cup in Italy. In the course of the tournament he was not used for the team that failed in the quarterfinals to Germany .

After Johansson had failed in 1935 with IK Brage only in the promotion round - this time against IFK Norrköping - the promotion succeeded in 1937 with two victories against Hammarby IF . In the same year he came to his second international game, which he crowned with an international goal in the 2: 3 defeat against the Norwegian national team. In the following three years he played with IK Brage in the midfield of the Allsvenskan, before only one relegation place could be occupied in the 1940/41 season .
