Georg Knabe

Georg Knabe (born August 8, 1894 in Mühlhausen / Thuringia , † 1978 ) was a German politician ( CDU ). He was the Saxon Minister for Trade and Supply and a member of the People's Council and the People's Chamber of the GDR .

Life

Boy studied economics at the University of Halle (Saale) , and attained a doctorate to the Dr. rer. pole. Knabe worked as director of the paper maker cooperative in Chemnitz . However, in 1933 he was dismissed by the National Socialists as a member of a Masonic lodge and then worked as an economic consultant.

After the end of the war in 1945 he worked again as director of the papermaking cooperative. Knabe initially joined the LDP , but joined the CDU in November 1945. From November 1945 to December 1946 he was Ministerialrat in the Agriculture, Trade and Supply Department of the State Administration of Saxony. From December 1946 to November 1950 he served as Saxon Minister of Trade and Supply in the cabinet of Frederick II and in the Cabinet Seydewitz I . He was deposed in connection with the escape of Finance Minister Gerhard Rohner (CDU).

From June 1948 to May 1951 he was an assessor in the state board of the CDU Saxony . From July to October 1950 he was a member of the Saxon state parliament . From 1948 to 1951 he was a member of the German People's Council and the People's Chamber.

From 1950 to May 1951 he was a member of the executive board of the CDU. In February 1951 he was appointed acting head of the finance court of East Berlin . In May 1951, Knabe fled to West Berlin .
