Georg Leberbauer

Georg Leberbauer (born August 10, 1926 in Obernberg am Inn ; † January 1, 2016 in Salzburg ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and state official. From 1994 to 1996 he was a member of the Federal Council and from 1984 to 1994 Deputy Chairman of the Salzburg Seniors' Union.

education and profession

Leberbauer initially completed his school education by attending compulsory school and then underwent training as a surveying technician between 1941 and 1943 as part of his training at the Salzburg agricultural authority and the land consolidation office in Munich. He was then called up for military service during the Second World War , where he was deployed as a radio squad leader in a flak battery of the Reich Labor Service . After the end of the Second World War, Leberbauer joined the Office of the Salzburg State Government as an agricultural clerk in 1945, where he was employed until 1987.

Politics and functions

Leberbauer became a member of the Austrian People's Party and began his political career in local politics. He was involved in the community of Wald im Pinzgau and was elected a member of the Wald community council in 1984. Leberbauer was active as a local councilor in Wald until 1994. Leberbauer took on his second political mandate on May 2, 1994, when he was elected a member of the Federal Council by the Salzburg People's Party. He resigned from the Federal Council on April 3, 1996 at his own request, at which time he was in health rehabilitation. Within the party, Leberbauer was the deputy district party chairman of the ÖVP Pinzgau between 1989 and 1997, and he was also active in the ÖVP-affiliated Austrian Seniors' Union . Between 1984 and 1994 he held the position of deputy provincial chairman of the Salzburg Seniors' Association and was then a member of the Presidium of the Salzburg Seniors Association from 1994. Furthermore, from 1978 Leberbauer was a member of the Lions Club Mittersill.
