Georg Lotter

Georg Lotter (born September 8, 1878 in Deggendorf , † November 5, 1949 in Munich ) was a German engineer .

Life

Georg Lotter studied mechanical engineering in Munich and Berlin . In 1899 he became a member of the Corps Vitruvia Munich. From 1902 he worked as a construction engineer in the Krauss locomotive factory in Munich. In 1907 he took over the management of the electric locomotive construction department as chief engineer. After the First World War he worked as a senior engineer in the Munich locomotive factory Maffei and as a lecturer for railway engineering at the TH Munich . In 1929 he was appointed associate professor for mechanical engineering, road and rail vehicles at the TH Breslau . From 1946 to 1949 he continued teaching at the TH Munich. His most important technical new developments were the three-axle Krauss-Lotter frame for electric locomotives , the "reflective wheel flange flank smoothing" and the "Heumann-Lotter wheel tire outline" developed jointly with Hermann Heumann , which improved lane guidance and safety against derailment.
