Georg Eduard Bernhard Mantius (born April 13, 1870 in Schwerin , † April 1, 1924 in Bergedorf ) was a German lawyer and politician .

Life

Born as the son of Ernst Mantius , Georg Mantius studied law in Jena , Berlin and Rostock after attending grammar school in Schwerin . During his studies he became a member of the Teutonia Jena fraternity in 1890 . After exams and legal clerkship in Bergedorf in 1894, he entered the civil service in Hamburg . In 1897 he was promoted to Dr. iur. PhD . After the assessor exam in 1897, he was appointed magistrate in Bergedorf in 1899 . From 1906 to 1914 and from 1921 to 1924 he was a member of the Hamburg city ​​council for the city of Bergedorf , of which he was vice-president from 1922 and 1923. He took part in the First World War, most recently as a captain and company commander in the 2nd Landsturm and Infantry Battalion.
