Georg Matthias von Borcke

Georg Matthias von Borcke (born January 2, 1671 in Gersdorf ; † July 14, 1740 in Küstrin ) was a Prussian lawyer, temporarily district administrator of the Dramburg district and most recently chancellor of Neumark .

Life

He came from the noble Pomeranian family Borcke . His father Matthias Adrian von Borcke (1640–1679) was a Prussian captain and heir to Falkenburg , Pansin and Gersdorf . His mother Catharine Barbara (1650-1713) was born Freiin von Reisewitz .

Borcke studied from 1691 at the University of Frankfurt (Oder) . At times he was district administrator of the Dramburg district of Neumark. He is named as district administrator for 1713; In 1735 he was no longer in office.

In 1735 he became a Privy Councilor in the Neumark government in Küstrin. Here he succeeded Carl Friedrich von Schönebeck as Chancellor of Neumark. He held the office of first chancellor of Neumark until his death; Levin-Friedrich von Bismarck succeeded him in office .

Borcke was married to Elisabeth Marie, born in Blankenburg . His son Kaspar Wilhelm von Borcke (1704–1747) became a statesman in the Prussian service and also worked as a literary translator.
