Georg Niehenck (theologian)

Georg Niehenck , also Georg Neuhenck (born September 1, 1628 in Lüneburg , † May 25, 1714 in Rostock ) was a German Evangelical Lutheran theologian and educator.

Life

Georg Niehenck was born as the son of the businessman Heinrich Niehenck and his wife Elisabeth, b. Paris. He studied at the University of Greifswald in 1649 and was matriculated at the University of Rostock in 1658 .

From 1661 Niehenck worked as vice rector and from 1669 to 1684 as rector of the large city school Rostock . He was then a deacon and from 1696 pastor at St. Petri in Rostock. In 1699 he moved to St. Mary's Church as pastor . Georg Niehenck was for a long time a representative in the Hospital Church of the Holy Spirit and the last pastor in Rostock to preach Missingsch , a mixture of High and Low German.

The church historian Georg Niehenck was a grandson of Niehenck .
