Georg Oberhaidinger

Georg Oberhaidinger (born January 27, 1945 in Vöcklabruck ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and a former member of the Austrian National Council .

education and profession

Georg Oberhaidinger attended elementary and secondary school from 1951 to 1959 and then learned the profession of boiler and engine attendant. He did military service from 1966 to 1967 and attended the social academy of the Chamber for Workers and Salaried Employees in Mödling between 1972 and 1973 .

Oberhaidinger worked from 1960 to 1962 as a miner boy in coal mining and then worked as a boiler attendant until 1973. Between 1973 and 1980 he was secretary of the metal-mining-energy union for the districts of Vöcklabruck and Wels and from 1981 to 1993 district party secretary of the ÖGB Wels. He then worked as state party secretary for the SPÖ Upper Austria and in 1995 switched to the SPÖ Upper Austria private foundation as managing director.

Oberhaidinger was involved with the young generation of the SPÖ in the Vöcklabruck district and was their chairman between 1970 and 1973. Before that, he had been chairman of the works council at Tierkörperverwertungs-GesmbH Regau from 1968 to 1973 . Oberhaidinger represented the SPÖ in the state parliament between 1979 and 1986 and was city councilor in Wels from 1986 to 1990 . In 1994 he was elected district chairman of the SPÖ Wels.

Between November 5, 1990 and October 29, 2006, Oberhaidinger was a member of the SPÖ's member of the National Council. He was energy spokesman for the SPÖ parliamentary group. Oberhaidinger is currently a member of the SPÖ regional party presidency of Upper Austria.
