Georg Objartel

Georg Objartel (born 1940 , Treuburg / Ostpr.) Is a German specialist in German.

Life

Georg Objartel received his doctorate in 1974 under Hugo Moser at the University of Bonn . He completed his habilitation in 1991. He worked as a research assistant at the Technical University of Braunschweig . Objartel became a research assistant and private lecturer at the German Department of the University of Hamburg .

Objartel's areas of work are language history, student language, historical semantics and lexicography, as well as Middle High German poetry. In Hamburg he was head of the Goethe dictionary at the Göttingen Academy of Sciences. In 1984 he and Henne edited a six-volume library of the German student language. In addition to reprints of dictionaries from the 18th and 19th centuries, it also contains a handwritten list that Goethe wrote down around 1790.
