Dieter Cherubim

Dieter Cherubim (born January 22, 1941 in Dresden ) is a German specialist in German and retired professor .

Life

Dieter Cherubim studied classical philology and German literature in Munich and Marburg from 1962 to 1968 . In 1971 he received his doctorate . His dissertation is entitled Grammatical Categories. The relationship between traditional and modern linguistics. In 1980, he completed his habilitation in German linguistics on the subject of investigations into the problem of language change. Historical conditions - theoretical foundations - empirical description. From 2000 to 2001 Cherubim was dean of the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Göttingen .

Research and Teaching

His main research interests include:

  • Theory of language change
  • Linguistic history of modern times (18th century ff.)
  • Error linguistics / language criticism
  • Grammarography (ancient / early modern times)
  • Conversation research
  • Historical pragmatics
  • Language, emotion and aggression

Dieter Cherubim also taught a lot abroad, u. a. in Finland, Estonia, France, Ukraine, PR China and Hungary.
