Life

He first learned the craft of radio and television technician, and performed as a travesty artist in clubs at a young age. He created the stage character Mary Morgan .

He became known to a wide audience in the early 1980s with his stage partner Reiner Kohler as the duo Mary & Gordy . A total of six shows of the two were broadcast on television. In addition, they appeared in numerous tours. In 1990 Mary & Gordy received the Golden Camera from the television magazine Hörzu . Kohler had to end his career in 1987 for health reasons. Prussia then began a solo career as Mary with tours and her own TV shows. A highlight of every show was the last song So leb your Leben , an interpretation of the Frank Sinatra classic My Way in the version by Mary Roos , in which Prussia takes off his make-up, clothes and wig while singing and turns from Mary to Georg Preuße. One of the Mary & Gordy shows and later one of the Mary shows were the German contribution to the competition for the Golden Rose of Montreux .

In addition to his life role as Mary , Preuße was also seen in other roles and as a presenter in theater, film and television. In 1999 he received the Berlin Bear (BZ Culture Prize) , the 2001 Beauty Face Award from the Federal Association of Cosmeticians and the Golden Curtain three times as the most popular actor in Berlin in the 1999/2000, 2002/2003 and 2003/2004 theater seasons . In the 1990s he had an advertising contract with the Zentis company . In 2004 he received the Peter Frankenfeld Prize .

In 2002 Preuße entered into a civil partnership with his long-term partner and manager Jack Amsler. They live together in Switzerland.
