Georg Quedens

Georg Quedens (born November 1934 in Norddorf auf Amrum ) is a German photographer , non-fiction author and local historian and naturalist .

life and work

Georg Quedens has lived on Amrum since he was born. The nature and history of this North Sea island shape his work. He trained as a photographer with his father. Since then he has been working in his profession and has written numerous publications about Amrum and other North Frisian islands . He gave his first slide show in 1958, and his first illustrated books appeared in 1961 in the series Der kleine Wolff-illustrated book published by Wolff Verlag in Flensburg . He later published more extensive books in the series Die Welt der Insel und Halligen by Breklumer Verlag in Breklum and by his brother Jens Quedens in Amrum. His photos have been published in many magazines and calendars, including national ones, for decades. For 30 years he wrote the chronicles Amrum 1983 to Amrum 2012, which together comprise around 4,500 pages and each appeared in an edition of around 1,000.

Furthermore, Georg Quedens gave lectures on various topics relating to the North Sea region for a long time . Usually the topics are "Amrum the island", "North Sea and Wadden Sea", "Amrum in the good old days", "North Sea Mordsee", "From island to island" and "Sea birds". Step by step, his son, the painter Kai Quedens, took over the lecture series in the 2010s.
