Georg Rasel was a famous artist in Silesia and, along with Hugo Ulbrich, particularly known for his pen drawings . He studied from 1903 to 1906 at the Royal School of Arts and Crafts (from 1911 Art Academy ) in Breslau ( Lower Silesia ) and received a Silesian scholarship for an artistic stay in Rome .

Rasel worked in Upper Silesia and Breslau, near which he lived. He painted Silesian motifs, landscapes and architecture . He worked for various publishers, but in 1929 was also the author of his own portfolio with drawings of Silesian Schrothholzkirchen . He created hundreds of postcard designs and book illustrations.

At the end of World War II , Rasel and his wife fled Wroclaw from the Russian army in January 1945. The flight, however, overworked the 63-year-old so much that he died of a heart attack on February 2 in Döbeln, Saxony .
