Hugo Ulbrich (born November 10, 1867 in Bad Dirsdorf near Nimptsch , Province of Silesia , † January 5, 1928 in Breslau ) was a German painter , graphic artist and etcher.

Life

Ulbrich attended high school in Reichenbach in the Eulengebirge , then he learned the trade of bookseller in Göttingen for three years . He then studied at the Prussian Academy of Arts in Berlin with the etcher Karl Köpping , where he was also promoted by Adolf Menzel .

The Silesian Museum of Fine Arts in Breslau commissioned him in 1891 with the pen drawings for the 1903 “Illustrations of Silesian Art Monuments” by Hans Lutsch in four volumes.

Ulbrich moved to Breslau, where he lived until his death in 1928. He became an employee of the Leipzig "Zeitschrift für bildende Kunst".

He made several study trips through Germany and Europe, also visited Egypt. Ulbrich was appointed professor at the Breslau Art Academy .

From August 4 to October 27, 2002, the exhibition From West Prussia to Egypt and Silesia in the Middle took place in Haus Schlesien in Königswinter . Graphics by Hugo Ulbrich (1867–1928) took place.

Many of Ulbrich's works can be found in German and Polish art collections.
