Georg Sattler

Georg Sattler (born October 16, 1879 in Blankenburg , † July 19, 1975 in Gotha ) was a German lawyer , civil servant and politician ( DNVP ).

Life and work

After graduating from high school, Sattler studied law at the universities in Leipzig and Jena from 1900 to 1903 . During his studies he joined both the Hansea Gymnastics Association in Leipzig and the Normannia Jena Gymnastics Association . He passed the first state examination in law and was awarded a Dr. jur. doctorate and passed the second state examination in law in 1907. Then he entered the administrative service. From 1907 to 1912 he worked as an assessor in the Ministry of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt and from 1912 to 1922 as a district administrator in the Königsee district office . From 1914 to 1918 he took part in the First World War as a soldier .

Sattler was managing director of the Central Thuringian Glass Manufacturers Association from 1922 to 1924 and general director of a glass company in Ilmenau from 1927 to 1929 . From 1930 to 1945 he was President of the Thuringian State Fire Insurance Company in Gotha.

Sattler, who had joined the Stahlhelm and the German National People's Party (DNVP) after the November Revolution , was Minister of State for the Interior and Economy of the State of Thuringia from February 21, 1924 to April 29, 1927 . At the same time he was Deputy Minister of State Richard Leutheußer .
