Georg Schelbert

Georg Schelbert (born November 2, 1922 in Kaltbrunn SG ; † 2015 ) was a Swiss theologian .

Life

Georg Schelbert was the second child in a family with a total of nine children. He attended the Progymnasium Rebstein and the Gymnasium Immensee and entered the novitiate in the Schöneck missionary seminar in 1941 . He acquired in 1953 at the Pontifical Institute Biblico the Licentiate in Biblical studies.

After Josef Amstutz had been elected General Superior of the SMB in 1967, Schelbert took over the lectures Introduction to the Mystery of Christ at the Theological Faculty of the University of Friborg . He also lectured at the Catechetical Institute in Lucerne from 1966–1991. From 1971, he taught in Friborg also introduction to the Aramaic language and introduction to the intertestamental literature and from 1975 biblique milieu . In 1978 he was appointed chef de travail and from 1983 to 1993 he was a study advisor at the theological faculty. He was the chaplain of the Canisius Sisters for the daily Eucharist. In 2000 he retired to the mother house in Immensee.
