Georg Teibler (born December 4, 1854 in Perchtoldsdorf ; † December 18, 1911 there ) was an Austrian portrait, genre and history painter.

Live and act

Teibler was a son of the portrait and history painter Carl Teibler . He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna with Carl Wurzinger , Eduard von Engerth , Karl von Blaas and Johann Nepomuk Geiger .

Thanks to a state scholarship, Teibler spent 1882 in Rome . He worked in Vienna until 1885, after which he moved to Perchtoldsdorf, where he owned a studio in Scholaugasse.

Among other things, he made a portrait of his father in 1877, which was acquired in 1905 for the picture gallery of the Most High Imperial House and exhibited in the “Modern Master Paintings” department. From 1909 there is an oil painting entitled Christ on the Cross , which was interpreted as an altarpiece (235 × 165 cm) for the Perchtoldsdorf Hospital Church and has been in the possession of the Museum in Perchtoldsdorf since 2014.

Teibler's grandson Robert Colnago (* 1935) also became a painter.
