Georg Wieland (politician)

Georg Wieland (born May 25, 1842 in Göppingen ; † September 29, 1923 there ) was a master carpenter and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Wieland attended elementary school from 1848 to 1854, the secondary school until 1856 and also the commercial advanced training school for four years. He learned the carpentry trade from 1856 to 1859, traveled to southern and part of central Germany as a tradesman, and ran his father's business for four years in place of the deceased father. In the spring of 1868 with the marriage, the business took over on his own account. In 1863 he was drafted into the 7th Württemberg Infantry Regiment and participated in the wars of 1866 and 1870/71. For around 20 years he was a member and chairman of the citizens' committee, the municipal council and the official assembly. He was also district chairman of the Württemberg Warrior Association. He was awarded the war memorial from 1866 and 1870/71, the centenary medal, the golden medal of merit of the Royal Württemberg Order of Frederick, the medal for 25 years of fire service and the gold medal of the Royal Württemberg Order of the Crown at the 40th anniversary of the fire service as a commander.

From 1907 to 1912 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency of the Kingdom of Württemberg 10 Gmünd , Göppingen , Welzheim , Schorndorf and the German People's Party . He had been nominated as a compromise candidate for all bourgeois parties against Hugo Lindemann , the former social democratic member of the Reichstag .
