George Bailey (athlete)

George Bailey ( George William Bailey ; born April 29, 1906 in Buxton , † August 2000 in Bury St Edmunds ) was a British obstacle and long-distance runner .

At the British Empire Games in Hamilton in 1930 , he won the eight-lap obstacle course for England . In 1932 he was fifth over 3000 m obstacle at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles and was eliminated over 5000 m in the prelim. At the British Empire Games in London in 1934 , he won bronze over the two mile obstacle.

In 1930 and 1935 he was English champion over two mile obstacles, in 1933 in ten mile track. In 1936 he finished second in the Daily Dispatch Cup Marathon.
