George Blake (athlete)
George Blake ( George Bernard Blake ; born September 4, 1878 in St. Kilda , Victoria , † February 6, 1946 in Cheltenham , Victoria) was an Australian middle and long distance runner .
At the Olympic Intermediate Games in Athens in 1906 , he was sixth in the five-mile run and in the marathon . Over 1500 m he was eliminated in the preliminary run. Two years later he failed at the London Olympics over five miles in advance. In the marathon, he gave up injured after colliding with a cyclist. At the Australasian Championships he was three times second (1901, 1904, 1909) and third (1908) over three miles.
