Life

Beechey was the third of 18 children of the English portrait painter and later Sir William Beechey with his wife Anne Phyllis Jessop. King George III of Great Britain was his godfather . He was the brother of the captain of the British Navy Frederick William Beechey , the admiral and painter Richard Brydges Beechey and the portrait painter Henry William Beechey .

In the years 1821 to 1822 Beechey made a drawing and painting trip to Egypt , in the 1830s he traveled to India. There he became the court painter of the last nawabs of Avadh .
