George Kremer

George Kremer (born November 21, 1775 in Middletown , Province of Pennsylvania , †  September 11, 1854 in Middleburg , Pennsylvania ) was an American politician . Between 1823 and 1829 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

George Kremer was a nephew of Governor Simon Snyder (1759-1819). After studying law and being admitted to the bar, he began working in this profession in Lewisburg . At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Republican Party . Between 1812 and 1813 he was a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives . In the 1820s he joined the movement around the future US President Andrew Jackson .

In the congressional elections of 1822 , Kremer was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the ninth constituency of Pennsylvania , where he succeeded John Brown on March 4, 1823 . After two re-elections, he was able to complete three legislative terms in Congress by March 3, 1829 . These were marked by heated discussions between the supporters of President John Quincy Adams and those of Andrew Jackson.

After his time in the US House of Representatives, George Kremer retired from politics. He died on September 11, 1854 in Middleburg.
