Georgenberg is a part of the municipality of Pleiskirchen in the Upper Bavarian district of Altötting .

location

Georgenberg is located about 2.5 kilometers northeast of Pleiskirchen. To the north-west of the village is Straß , to the north-east of Geratskirchen , to the east of Wald bei Winhöring .

history

In the last quarter of the 12th century, there was evidence of a noble family named after Georgenberg. The church was probably built back then as a separate church for this noble free family. Georgenberg later belonged to the Pleiskirchen chairmanship.

As part of the former municipality of Unterpleiskirchen, Georgenberg became part of the newly founded municipality of Pleiskirchen through the merger of Unterpleiskirchen with Oberpleiskirchen on January 1, 1966.

Attractions

The Church of St. George is a Gothic church from the 15th century on an older basis probably from the 12th / 13th. Century. The former pilgrimage church, renovated in 1978/1979, is surrounded by a cemetery with walls around the 17th and 18th centuries. Century.
