Georges Aubé
Georges Aubé (born June 1, 1884 in Nonant-le-Pin , Orne , † November 22, 1971 ) was a French general in the air force .
Life
Training as an officer and interwar period
After attending the École polytechnique, Aubé completed an officer training course and became an officer in the Aéronautique Militaire , which was then part of the army . During the First World War was him the Croix de guerre 1914-1918 , the Officer's Cross of the Legion of Honor (Officier de la Legion d'Honneur) , the Médaille commémorative de la guerre 1914-1918 and Médaille Interalliée de la Victoire awarded. On March 25, 1925 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel (Lieutenant-Colonel) and on December 25, 1929 to colonel (Colonel) . As such, he took over the post of commandant of the training center in Cazaux in 1931 and held this position until July 1, 1936. There he was in 1931 Commander of the Legion of Honor (Commandeur de la Légion d'Honneur) and on September 3, 1934, Brigadier General (Général de brigade aérienne) promoted.
On July 1, 1936, Aubé was deputy chief of the staff of the now independent branch of the air force (Armée de l'air) and remained in this post until October 15, 1936. Then he was seconded to the air force staff on October 15, 1936 and received there on March 3, 1937 his promotion to major general (Général de division aérienne) . After his promotion to general (Général d'armée aérienne) he was between July 1, 1937 and October 9, 1940 a member of the Supreme Air Force Council (Conseil Supérieur de l'Air) and at the same time from May 7, 1938 to October 15 1938 first General Inspector of Air Defense (Inspecteur Général de la Défense Aérienne du Territoire) and between October 15, 1938 and September 2, 1939, Inspector of Air Defense and Fighter Pilot (Inspecteur de la Défense Anti-Aérienne et Inspecteur de l'Aviation de Chasse) .
Second World War
One day after the start of the Second World War , Aubé became Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Air Defense on September 2, 1939 and then took over the role of Inspector General of Air Defense again between October 20, 1939 and June 29, 1940. After he was commander of the 3rd air region (3ème Région Aérienne) from June 29 to July 27, 1940 , he held the post of commander of the 4th air region (4ème Région Aérienne) between July 27 and October 9, 1940 . He was given leave of absence on October 9, 1940, before finally retiring on October 9, 1945. For his services he was also a Grand Officer of the Legion of Honor (Grand Officier de la Légion d'Honneur) .
