Georges Henri Ruedin

Georges Henri Ruedin (born March 22, 1895 in Fontainemelon ; † September 16, 1953 in Bern ; called Georgy ) was a Swiss watch manufacturer in the Bernese Jura .

Life

After visiting the Biel Technical Center in 1910, Ruedin became deputy director of the Televox Cooperative in Neuchâtel in 1923 , which manufactured telegraphs and cordless telephones . Two years later he opened a trading office for metals and metalworking machines in the same city.

In 1926 Georges Ruedin founded the watch case factory Jaquat Ruedin & Co together with Albert Jaquat in Bassecourt , which he operated from 1933 under his name Georges Ruedin and from 1951 as Georges Ruedin SA . After founding the company benefited from orders from the paternal Reconvilier Watch Co .

Ruedin was president of the Swiss Association of Metal and Tin Can Manufacturers . During the Second World War he designated the rank of captain of the infantry . From 1928 to 1930 he was a member of the local council for the free-thinking party in Bassecourt . As a friend of history he financed the archaeological excavations of the Burgundian cemetery of Basse Court and was an honorary member of the co-founded by his uncle Jämes Ruedin Jurassic Museum in Delémont .

Georges Henri Ruedin was the son of Georges Louis Ruedin .
