Georges Lombard (born March 14, 1925 in Paris , † September 13, 2010 in Brest , Finistère , France ) was a French politician from the Center national des indépendants et paysans (CNI).

biography

After attending school, he studied law and, after completing his studies , settled in Brest as a lawyer in 1949 .

In 1958 he began his political career when he was elected as a candidate for the Center national des indépendants et paysans for a member of the National Assembly, where he represented the Finistère department until 1962. In addition, he was elected Mayor of Brest in 1959 and held this office until 1973.

After he was again a member of the National Assembly between 1967 and 1968, he was elected a member of the Senate in 1971 and was a member of the Senate as a representative of the Union centriste until 1989. In addition to serving as President of the Committee for Studies and Relations of Brittany (CELIB) from 1972 to 1974, he was also a member of the Regional Council of Brittany until 1992 . During this time he founded the Communauté Urbaine de Brest in 1974, of which he was president from 1974 to 1977.

Between 1981 and 1986 he was the first President of the Breton Cultural Institute ( Skol-Uhel ar Vro ) and again President of the Communauté Urbaine de Brest from 1983 to 1989 .

After finishing his political career, he devoted himself to writing. His novels Mireille Mune and La myrrhe et l'encens were published in 1994 and 1995, respectively .

He has received several awards for his political services and was an officer of the Legion of Honor , Knight of the Ordre des Palmes Académiques and the Order of the Leopold of Belgium . In 1991 he was also awarded the Breton Ordre de l'Hermine .
