Georgios Stefanou ( Greek Γεώργιος Στεφάνου , born January 12, 1981 in Athens ) is a Greek volleyball player . He is under contract with Olympiacos .

Career

society

Georgios Stefanou, who plays in the position of Libero at a height of 1.88 m , began his career in 1992 with the Greek club Petroupoli, where he played for eight years. In the summer of 2000, Stefanou moved to Ionikos Neas Filadelfias, before signing a contract with league rivals AE Nikeas a year later. With Nikea, Stefanou won the Greek club cup in 2003 and thus his first personal title. In the same year he moved to the top club Panathinaikos Athens , where he was under contract until 2009. With Panathinaikos, Stefanou was able to win two championships (2004, 2006), a cup (2007) and the Greek Supercup (2006) and also managed to qualify for the final 4 tournaments of the Top Teams Cup 2006. In 2009 he moved to Olympiacos for the first time , with whom he finished the 2009/10 season as champions. Despite this success, he went to EA Patras for one season the following year before moving to Iraklis Thessaloniki in 2011 . He celebrated his fourth championship title with the team and also won the cup. For the 2012/13 season, however, he went back to Olympiakos and won the championship and cup doubles there in 2013 and 2014. In addition, the team secured the league cup in 2013 and 2015. In 2015 he moved to Kifissia VC for one season before returning to Piraeus in 2016. In 2017 he won the Greek Cup for the seventh time and the League Cup for the third time.

National team

Georgios Stefanou is an integral part of the Greek national team and took part in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens . In total, he played 233 games for the national team until August 2017.
