The Georgsstein in Hanover and the associated George oaks in the Georgengarten date from the time of the Kingdom of Hanover . The trees with a memorial stone were planted in 1839 on the 20th birthday of the heir to the throne Georg von Hannover on the western edge of the lawn oval in front of the Georgenpalais .

history

After the Georgengarten came into the possession of the city of Hanover from the Guelphs in 1921 during the Weimar Republic , the George Oaks were declared a natural monument almost a century after their inauguration on September 12, 1934 . Of the former three oaks, only two trees have been placed under nature protection. The Georgian oaks are no longer included in the list of their natural monuments published by the Hanover Region in 2010.
