The straight cross street is a street in Lübeck .

location

The approximately 120 meter long straight cross street is located in the Marien Quartier on the western edge of the old town island and runs in a north-south direction. It begins on Mengstraße , opposite the confluence of the Siebenten Querstraße , halfway crosses Alfstraße and ends at Fischstraße .

history

The original straight cross street consisted only of the northern part between Mengstrasse and Alfstrasse. Today's southern section from Alfstraße to Fischstraße was an independent street called Krumme Querstraße until 1956 .

The straight Querstraße 1412 with the mixed Low German - Latin name Dwerstrate inter plateam Adolphi et plateam Mengonis (cross street between Alfstraße and Mengstraße) is mentioned for the first time . For 1700, the name is on a map Rabanderstraße recorded, in 1783 it is in a newspaper ad neck debranching called. In 1852 the name was officially established as Grade Dwasstraße , but was changed to the High German version in 1884 , which is still valid today.

The Krumme Querstraße, which was not originally directly connected to Straight Querstraße, was repealed after its complete destruction in the air raid on March 29, 1942 in the course of its reconstruction with a modified course in 1956 and added to Straight Querstraße as a southern extension.

Buildings

The development in the historic part between Mengstrasse and Alfstrasse is determined by the eaves of the four historic corner houses. These are the Backhaus at Alfstrasse 32 , the historic factory from 1775 and the youth hostel in Mengstrasse.
