Geraldo Francisco dos Santos (born June 11, 1962 in Recife , Pernambuco ), commonly known by his nickname Zizinho , is a former Brazilian soccer player who mainly played in midfield .

career

Zizinho dos Santos began his professional career in 1979 at São Paulo FC and was signed by the Mexican first division club América at the age of 18 , with whom he was initially under contract from 1980 to 1982. After a detour to Club León in the 1982/83 season, he returned to Club America, with which he won the league title in the 1983/84 season .

In addition to other short-term positions at Club Necaxa , CF Monterrey and once again at Club León, Zizinho was also under contract with the Salvadoran first division club CD FAS . He spent his last four years as a professional footballer at the Indoor Soccer Club Monterrey La Raza .

family

Zizinho dos Santos, who is married to a Mexican, has three sons who have also become professional footballers. The best known of them is Giovani dos Santos (* 1989) and has already completed more than ninety international matches for the Mexican national soccer team . Like his younger brother Jonathan dos Santos (* 1990), he began his career at FC Barcelona and in the 2014/15 season both were under contract with FC Villarreal . The older brother Éder (* 1984) was under contract with Club América, but did not make the breakthrough and was only used for its reserve teams.
