Gerard Jones

Gerard Jones (born July 10, 1957 in Cut Bank , Montana ) is an American writer (non-fiction) and comic book author .

Life and work

Jones grew up in Los Gatos and Gilroy, a small town in California , and later moved to San Francisco, where he still lives today and is a member of the “San Francisco Writers' grotto” group.

Jones' non-fiction books include Men of Tomorrow: Geeks, Gangsters and the Birth of the Comic Book (2004), for which he received the Eisner Award , Killing Monsters: Why Children Need Fantasy , Superheroes and Make-Believe Violence ( 2002) and Honey I'm Home: Sitcoms Selling the American Dream (1993). He also wrote articles for National Lampoon for many years . His next book, True Story , is due to be released in 2008.

Between 1989 and 2001 Jones also wrote numerous comics for the publishers Marvel Comics , DC Comics , Dark Horse Comics and Viz Comics. He contributed stories for well-known series such as Batman , Green Lantern , Guy Gardner , Justice League , El Diablo, Wonder Man, The Shadow and Pokémon .
