Gerardo Mascareño (born July 4, 1970 in Silver Springs , Maryland ) is a former American - Mexican soccer player on the position of a striker .
Life
Mascareño began his professional football career with the Los Angeles Lazers and was discovered early by talent scouts from Mexico , the home of his ancestors. As early as 1990 he played in the top Mexican league . He spent the first four years at Puebla FC , which won the double just before arriving . Via CF Atlante and the two Guadalajara- based city rivals Atlas and Chivas , he joined CF Pachuca in 1998 , with whom he won the Mexican football championship in the 1999 winter season. He then played for the Monarcas Morelia and Club León , with whom he was relegated to the second division in 2002 . He then let his active career fade away in the 2002/03 season at the second division club Nacional Tijuana .
