Gerd Hoofe

Gerd Hoofe (born February 19, 1955 in Mittelkirchen ) is a German lawyer and has been State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Defense since December 2013 .

education and profession

Hoofe studied law in Göttingen . From 1981 he worked as a lawyer in the field of business and insolvency law before he took on a position in the state finance administration of North Rhine-Westphalia in 1983. From there he moved to the Osnabrück district in 1985 . From 1988 he was head of department and board member for various areas of responsibility, including a. Social, school, health, transport, finance, human resources, organization. From 2002 he held the office of the First District Council and the function of general representative of the District Administrator of the Osnabrück district (Lower Saxony).

In 2003 he was appointed State Secretary in the Lower Saxony Ministry for Social Affairs, Women, Family and Health, before moving to the Federal Ministry for Family, Seniors, Women and Youth as State Secretary from November 2005 to December 2009 . From December 2009 to December 2013 he was State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs . In December 2013 he followed Federal Minister Ursula von der Leyen in the Federal Ministry of Defense in the same function . In September 2016, he released a budget of 58 million euros for investments at Incirlik Air Base , although the Turkish government had repeatedly denied German parliamentarians access to the base. Incirlik is up for grabs in May 2017 because of this problem.
