Gerd Josef Weisensee

Gerd Josef Weisensee (born November 19, 1942 in Paderborn ) is a Swiss entrepreneur and journalist who is best known for founding and managing the Pro Life association for many years . The association offers its members a health insurance solution that refuses to finance abortions and the medically controlled dispensing of heroin .

Life

Weisensee attended elementary school in Bocholt and later the mathematics and natural sciences branch at St.-Georg-Gymnasium , which he graduated from high school in February 1964 at the age of 21. During his high school years he was active in the Catholic youth movement. In the summer of 1964 he enrolled at the law and economics faculty of the University of Bern. In 1966 he completed an internship at Inter City Bank (Inc) during a stay abroad in Michigan (USA) , followed by another internship at Tong Shing Chemical Products Co. Ltd. in Seoul (Korea). In the 1970/71 winter semester, he obtained the Bern licentiate in economics with the title “Magna cum laude”. From 1971, Weisensee worked for IBM in Bern for many years . He received his doctorate in 1978 from the University of Friborg (Switzerland) with a dissertation on the bank credit card business.

Gerd Weisensee founded the Pro Life association in 1989 together with his wife Almut Weisensee-Wagner. As an insurance agent, the association offers health insurance policies that only include insured persons who join the association as members and who expressly refrain from having abortions carried out or pressuring others to do so.

Gerd Weisensee is a member of the board of the umbrella association for drug abstinence Switzerland.

Publications

Weisensee initially published various scientific papers on credit cards and banks. Later, after the founding of Pro Life, numerous religious and journalistic writings followed. a. as editor of the Swiss Catholic Sunday Gazette (SKS), as publisher of the quarterly membership magazine of the Pro Life association and as the author of several books for Verlag Theresia AG, which is particularly dedicated to hagiographic texts and the adoration of philomena .
