Gerd Mosbach (born February 17, 1963 in Cologne ) is a German painter .

Life

Mosbach studied in Cologne, Florence , Milan and Madrid .

The focus of his work is portrait painting and dealing with physiognomy , gestures and role behavior . Mosbach entered the Catholic Church at the age of 39 and has since devoted himself to religious topics in his artistic work.

Mosbach lives and works near Cologne. He has a son.

Well-known works are portraits of John Paul II in the private apartments of the Apostolic Palace , of Joachim Cardinal Meisner in the Archbishop's House and in the seminary in Cologne, of Peter Ustinov , on permanent loan from Dresdner Bank to UNICEF , and of Ralph Giordano , in private ownership.

In the basilica of St. Aposteln in Cologne there is the large-format painting The Apostles in the north aisle , in St. Pantaleon (Cologne) in the sacristy his portrait of Monsignor Peter von Steinitz.

Further, mostly large-format purchases were made with the pictures Der Trommler - a Cologne scene picture with carnival-like content - by the Cologne City Museum , The Children's Crusade by the Christiane Herzog Foundation and Menorah (2008) by the Jewish Community of Bonn .
