The Gerd show was a radio comedy between 1999 and 2005 in which the then Federal Chancellor Gerhard Schröder and other nationally known politicians were parodied . The creative minds of this program were the comedian and voice imitator Elmar Brandt and the producer and author Peter Burtz . With around 10 million listeners per day and twelve radio stations involved, the Gerd show has been the radio comedy with the widest coverage so far . In addition, there were various, in some cases very successful, sound carriers, each of which was published under the name “The Gerd Show” .

In 1999, the Gerd Show makers began to provide familiar melodies with new texts and to sing them with Schröder's voice. With that they had several top 20 hits. With a version of the summer hit "The Ketchup Song" by Las Ketchup under the new title "Der Steuersong", they even landed a number one hit in Germany and Austria in 2002 . The subsequent album Der Kanzler sing (k) t was also a top 10 success in Germany.

In 2003 Elmar Brandt took part with Alles wird gut in the German preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2003 and took third place after having even led after the preliminary round.

In 2005 Anne Onken was involved in the Gerd Show as a voice imitator for Angela Merkel .

In October 2005, after Gerhard Schröder was voted out of office, the Gerd show was discontinued after 1300 episodes. As a new project, the Radionovela Fateful Years of a Chancellor - Angela - a woman has been going his way (since January 2007 under the title Supermerkel ) over the airwaves has been going on since October 24, 2005 . Here, too, today's Chancellor Angela Merkel is spoken to by Anne Onken and her male colleagues by Elmar Brandt; Peter Burtz continues to be the author and producer .
